RARE 340 wedge car???

-
I will do anything GG will do for $75, LOL

I'd do it $50 as long as it's business and not some nasty deal... like eating a bucket of fried chicken in under 5 minutes!

If you choose to send GG money it's on you. If you get the service and provide him with your data, which he uses to make money, no problem. You may end up like some of the guys I know that paid for services and never received squat and gave up the data to boot.

IMHO, the only people that give two rats arses about what GG says are the newbie investor crew. Any long time Mopar people know others that and will do data decoding as accurate as GG, but, FOR FREE. Only difference is it doesn't come on GG paper.

His one of xx, is generally only for those known in his registry and NOT for total car counts produced. I've seen NUMEROUS times the count changes because another unknown car comes out of the woodwork.

Best of luck on whatever decision you make and GRAB that car would you...

ya id rather not pay him and use the dough on the restoration but finding numbers are hard on the dusters well for me it is cause its not a million dollar cuda but any mopar person will know what it is without havin the papers to prove it thats why they put fender tags on em lol

Congrats, Thats a really cool car. 71 is the best year for the Duster.

yea what i don't like about galen is he use to have a colume in m.c.g. he once wrote that when he did the decodeing and paperwork on a car if it was sold he would not honor the paperwork he said it would need to be redone $$$ signs is what thats about heck you can decode one here for free aslong as the vintag don't look tamperd with

Great buy Ryan426!

Although it looks rough, it's a diamond, all the important stuff are still there.
Hope the "shark tooth" grill is intact, they are getting extremely pricey.
By the way, 511 "V24" code cars is the correct number to the best of my knowledge, trying to break the numbers down on the Duster will be a daunting task, as far as how many 3 speed with that interior and other options you have.
I have a 1971 340 Duster, and I have been searching high and low for production numbers breakdown. I also have the "Hood pins" and the "Wing".
What I can tell you is 13.6% of 340 Duster were painted in EV2.

insurance was cheaper back then with a 3 speed than a 4 speed.

I've seen this comment a couple times in this thread and I have my doubts that it's true.
The biggest reason I say this is that, by the V.I.N., there is no way the insurance providers can TELL what tranny it is, but they can darned well tell if it has a 340, or other engine, by it.

Unless they ask on the phone (or in writing) and you're not intelligent enough to tell them it's 3 speed or auto, there's no way they can tell.

Mark.

going by what i read in a few articles in mags. same goes for a 69 sport satellite 383 car was cheaper to insure than a 69 roadrunner 383 car.

ya the sharktooth is good all tabs there just is a crack on the top about 3inches long the usally spot were they crack

Back in the DAY! Which was many many years ago! The insurance was cheaper on certain cars and cars with certain options! High Performance cars with auto and 3 speed trans the insurance was cheaper, you were asked certain questions back then and you had to be honest because if you were not and the car was wrecked and did not have the options you described when you purchased the insurance they would not pay out the claims! Elcaminos came with the same options as chevelles! Such as in 1970 when Chevrolet made the LS6,If you got a chevelle with a LS6 the insurance was higher than an ELCamino with a LS6! Just because it was registered as a TRUCK That is also one reason the BIG 3 started telling WHITE LIES about HORSEPOWER so people could get insurance on the cars. Then in around 1973 all vehicles started to go way down in HP because of the insurance and emissions controls. A lot of people that thought they could drive found out they really could not and a lot of HIGH HP Vehicles were wrecked because of the driving inabilities. I remember many nice HP cars that were totaled out because of the owners inability to handle the HP.Tires were a problem back then also, you just could not get much traction on what was availiable back then! Man if they just had some good drag radials back then! A lot of cars could have been saved from being wrecked for lack of traction!Back then you could do burnouts for many many feet with the old polyglas tires and some cars would just never stop burning the tires till you lifted off the gas pedal. Those were the good old days that is for sure! You could buy a nice home for $25000.00 a new high performance car for $2500.00 to $3200.00 and a HEMI for just a little more! Then with the HEMI you were guaraunteed to get very little traction! LOL You could fill you tank up for $ 3.00 and runaround all night, get a Cheeseburger basket and coke for .75 cents or take your favorite girl out for a nice dinner for $3.00 go to the movies for a .25 cents.Damn those were the days! Ryan you got a really cool car, restore it ,drive it and enjoy it! Any 340 car is COOL and worth restoring if in decent shape. As far as getting GG documents I would not spend my hard earned dollar there but then that is up to you! GG does what he does and we all do what we do.You can certainly document your car and proove it is legit without GG paperwork. Looks like you will have a really cool car when it is all restored! I love the COLORS on the car,That ORANGE is hard to beat! Good Luck

Bobby

Very cool car, I love the orange interior. If you haven't driven a 3 speed your missing out. A lot of racers liked them BITD. As for this one, it's a very good score, one of my favorites.

thanks all im buying it to drive and take to shows because i like dusters best just to tell ya... i past on a 1970 challenger R/T 383 with a 4 speed pistol grip fy1 lemmon twist yellow car but if i take it out i might as well find out all bout it just thought id ask on here b/c finding numbers and stuff is hard for abody stuff plus i think the high peak for sales has topped out for the mopars well for the ebodies... just like the gto's used to be big money now they declined but in short iam buying the car restoring it and drive it like it was made too

well the car is finally home I am now the 2nd owner COOL... check out the grease marks, also the dealer sticker on the rear "jim lash" im going to see if he is still around does anybody have any info on this dealership.....also anyone know wut the grease marks mean "W" "3" "4" does anyone know,, the duster has a carter thermoquad number on top 2080 is that the 850cfm double pumper thanks

is there an original title for this car? if so the title will show the state the car was originally titled in since you are the second owner. my guess sanford nc. triple a enterprises : http://www.window-sticker.com/ has the listings for old dealers. they may be able to tell you what you need without you actually trying to get a window sticker. give them a call or email them. you have everything to gain at this point. good luck!

Love that car!.......great find

I bought one new in 1971 with an automatic. My brother bought a new
1970 with the three speed. I really liked driving the 3-speed after we
put a set of 4.30:1 gears in it.

I always liked the hood decal....mine did not have it.

Thats such a cool car !

The correct carb will be either 4972, 71 340 MT or
4973, 71 340 AT

71 Thermoquads had some issues and were usually replaced by later carbs.

The number should be stamped on the rear bolt mount on the passenger side I think

the car i purchased it in sanford FL in the same town it was bought brand new from a dealer on HWY 17-92 in sanford FL so the neat thing the car has been in the same town its whole life,, till today
