I've been banging around the idea of painting my '70 Duster flat black primer just to make it look that much more menacing. But, my friends like the look of the original faded/cracked metalflake gold, so I suppose I'll keep it like that for a while.
I don't think the "rat muscle car" has to be primered, if anything faded or scruffy original paint is likely more true to the heart of these cars. I know I like it better, that "lived in" feel as opposed to the "made to look rough" or some might say "poser" style.
I'd rather look at crap paint than primer any day, or even worse.... like the honda kids do, 40 spots of primer on a car that had a decent paint job to begin with. Yeah, all that primer looks so much better than that one stone ship ya had......:angry7:
patina -- because it's only original once.
here's my beater...rust spots and all. its had a crappy repaint at one point in its lifetime.
and my other vehicle - yes its a brand X but its ratty nonetheless....the only reason it got the flat black treatment was because the previous owner had spray-painted it camoflage.
