RDA

You just described a friend of mine , he`s 72 and still has to hit every day . One horse mechanic shop, his work has never picked up from the obuma crash. I always envyed him for working for himself, now , not so much !

The only person I know who is living comfortably in retirement fro, owning his own place is the former full owner now part time owner of a tire shop I once worked for.

The only reason is because his grandfather and his father left him three shops. He closed two and sold the properties and now remains part owner of the last as he sold it to his boys.

He nest egged the money of the sales and lives off his boys work.

Still thing of the name change, RDA would be a fine screen name.

Rainy Day Funk?
Maybe a good name for a song but shouldn’t be descriptive.
Choose not to despair.
Sounds like you need to do something you enjoy - so go do it (except buying parts you most likely won’t use soon).
Also sounds like you know that a little focus & direction with projects and maybe work/life balance is what you need.
We’re always here.

Rainy, good for you keeping your hobby alive in the face of adversity. Your time will come. You had a bit of curiosity about a 55 BelAir I mentioned a while back. I searched my photo albums and found the car. (Found them all in fact) I'll scan it and post it one of these days.

When i started my shop at home i was a little freaked out.
I got over it and have managed to pay the bills for the last 5 years. The last couple months have been slow, partly due to a bridge closure and the christmas holiday. Now things are spooling up again, and its steady work.
Another month and it will be back to normal.

There are days i would prefer to have a 9-5 job and be able to rack up vacation days and have a decent health care/dental plan.

Do what you have to do to pay the bills and split the time and extra money between family and hobby.
