Rear change out

I want to change my rear end from a 7-1/4 in. To at lease 8-1/4". Has anyone got one out of a newer Dodge truck from the scarp yard. What year was it. What was the wheel base. I'm a retired welder. Relocation problem.

Relocating the perches is easy. The problem with a truck rearend is it's way too wide. Why would the wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear tires) matter?

Some of the Jeep Cherokees had the 8 1/4 I believe, they're pretty much one-leggers though (non-suregrip).

I actually found one in a salvage yard with a Dana 44 and 4.10 gears!

The popular swap for newer rear ends seems to be with a 8.8 out of Ford Explorers. It may be sacrilege to some but it's decent gears, limited slip and disk brakes for $200-$300.
