I have discovered that both my 65 and 66 Barracuda F/S's deposit an exhaust smudge/film on the driver side or the rear bumper, trunk lid and tail light. I'm concerned about my couple year old new silver paint on the 65 and the upcoming white repaint on the the 66.

I can and do clean the chrome, but not sure what damage is being done to the paint.
Anybody else experience this annoying problem? Any suggestions on how or if it can be eliminated?

For there to be a carbon residue, it seems like you are running too rich, or the choke is staying on too long. Or maybe you just drive short distances at low speeds. But that's what I would look into.

block off the exhaust coming out of the rear muffler and add a small tail pipe tucked up out of sight behind the rear tire like a wagon would... prob solved
