just bought a daytona back half car with a 83/4 in it ,how much horspower will this take with a transbreak leaving at 5500 rpm ive always used dana 60 in the past but if i can get a billet caps and a ring gear that will hold up i dont want to change current set up ,the car is a for link with a wishbone,

It held up to my buddies all steel 69 Dart with a (800+hp) 500 cid indy headed engine running high 9's. When it broke. He upgraded to billet caps.

Car weight is more important than anything here.

One of the guys on moparts runs an 8 3/4 in a 9 seconds daytona style car.

20 years on a stocker 426 max wedge running low 10's. Never had a problem with it. Just run good axles and gears. I do run a spool and have a braced case though.

I shortened one for a friends supergas vega 4 years ago and hes never had to do anything but switch to street type material gears. The pro gears always broke off the teeth. Car weights 2560 and leaves at 5800 on the brake with a 678 horse bigblock.
