I have a 73 Dart Swinger with a 318. It needs a rear main seal. I hear you can replace the seal without removing the motor. I am not worried about the seal replacement its removing the oil pan. Has anyone tackled this before who can give me some suggetions?

yes you can but need to lift the engine as high as you can
remove the rod end
remove the rod end

You'll need to lift the motor up high and make sure you don't stretch any wires or hoses. Also make sure the fan doesnt get into the radiator. Remove the pan, oil pump and main bearing cap. I like to trim the side peices off the half of the seal so i can put some silicone on it and slide it in offset to reduce chance of leaks.
