When could you get rear seatbelts in an A-body? Did any of the early A's have rear seat belts factory? Thanks for your time.

My 66 has them. They even have this cool little tensioning device on them that tightens the belt after you click it. Not sure when the mandatory belts were required.

Hello,
My 1964 does not have them, but a 65 Dart in a local parts yard had them, which I pulled out for my 64. Have to be able to buckle in the car seats for family cruise nights... :thumblef:

Interestingly enough, 1964 reverse lights were also an option. My 64 does not have them.

Thanks,

Thanks, do you have pictures? That's exactly why I need them is for car seats and for my kids. They can slid under the crossbar from the cage, but still they could go with on a cruise.

for your kids get New seat belts.

ED-55221 Standard Lap Belt: Chrome plated lift latch fits in well with the style of pre-1972 vehicles (non-retractable). However, you can re-use those metal retractors on your existing seat belts - - Black Seat Belt Kit
60-71 -All- $34.95

Seatbelts, were required in either 65 or 66.
I have a 64 dart 170 and according to the build sheet it DID have them, where they are now I dont know.
Reverse lights, were also optional, I think side view mirrors were as well, because mine doesnt have them, or the holes for them. anybody know for sure?

Seat belts were an option up to 1964. In 1965 to present it is a law to have them. They had full front and rear seat belts. My dads 66 Formula S has them too.

I have both a 64 and a 65 Barracuda. The 64 did not have the rear belts, the 65 did. However, they both had the brackets under the rear seats to install them!

Really, my car didn't have any seat belts. But they did have the plates and rubber in the threaded holes for the front, but none in the back. Interesting.

I purchased a set of these for my car. They come in a variety of colors as well. Right around $20 to $25 per person gets you the belt and all mounting hardware. Check out JCWhitney.com Oh, different lengths available as well.
