I am looking at US Car Tool mini wheel tub kit for the early Valiant and I got to thinking. Are the rear wheel tubs different between the Hardtop and the convertibles?

the tubs are the same but they cut the tops off and make a cap that covers inner and outer like a lid...

Covertables are cut and capped to allow the top to come down. If you don't use them . Save them there are no repo's .
You are going to have to cut the old ones out anyway. Why not take your time, cut them precisely, and reuse them? Unless they are rusted too badly, there's no reason to replace them. Every bit of money saved on regular stuff can then go towards HP parts.

As said, If you are mini-tubbing and they are good you can just do a good job widening them 3". If they are rotted around quarters you must transplant the tops over to your new ones after you've trimed them down to install the caps back on.
