Rebuild current Carb or new carb altogether

Hello! I have a holly 2280 on a 318 on a 73 D100.
Should I buy the rebuild kit for 60$ or the new carb off amazon for 75$?

if what you have is rebuildable that's the preferred route.

but if that thing is trash, then i'd source something else. and while i'd say go and source a used BBD and rebuild that, i understand it's not always an option. that being said, those cheap amazon carbs can be okay. just fully check them out before installing.

If the t/shaft is very worn, I would buy a new carb. Otherwise, I would rebuild the original carb. The carb in the pic is a Carter, not a H.
 
I'd get the proper carb for your '73 model 318....either new, rebuilt, or used and rebuild that (my preference if new is not available or ridiculous in price).
 
I'm biased. I think the best place for the 2280 is the nearest trash can. If you think you can build it and get it right, go for it. More power to you.

all kidding aside, BBD would be my first choice followed by a holley 2300. i think a motorcraft 2100 or 2150(?) bolts up, which i know, sacrilege!

I'm almost 100% certain the Motorcraft requires the same adapter plate the Holley 2300 does. I know the Holley does, because I have that plate to go on the turbo motor.

there was some flavor of the motorcraft on IH motors, and that may be what i'm thinking of that bolts up. however, i've slept since then so i could be off on my reckoning. either way an a-dapt-or kit should have the motor running like a song.

I could be wrong about the Motorcraft....I just know the Holley 2300 has to have an adapter to go on the Super Six intake.
 
The carb shown above has a manual choke, I'm guessing your carb has an automatic choke.
Plus you have no idea if the jets and metering rods are correct for your application.

Hard to tell, Brooks. It might be a divorced automatic choke carburetor.
 
Nobody has started the snowball rolling yet on this thread, how about a new manifold and a four barrel?

I have bought lawnmower carbs on Amazon and they work great, never tried one for a car. For $25 I might give it a shot.

There was that guy on youtube that did it on either a Maverick? I think? It ran pretty good!
 
I thought the carburetor was only $25, but looks like that is for a gasket. How much is the new carb in the picture?
