For example, the post I made above appeared only in recent posts but not new posts.
Me, i gave up trying to figure that out.

When new isn't new anymore,then it is recent
New posts are just that. Recent posts include the posts you have already viewed.
I always click on recent just for that fact.

So every morning I get my coffee and click on new posts. Are you saying I should be looking at recent posts instead? Lol
I always like to look at the"old post" first, then I move on to the "recent post" then on to the "new post" and end up in post mortem. And then try to work my way back.
Still trying , getting closer to figuring that part out !
