Redline or Not

Going to be replacing the tires on my 1965 Dart Gt this year and was wondering if anyone is using Redline tires on their car. I currently have BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires but was thinking about switching to BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial / Redline tires.

I am going red line when I convert to big bolt pattern 15 inch wheels. Its around $170 or so more per tire. I think it gives car a much better look. But its a lot more money for appearance. If you like the look and have the budget go for it.

My 65 Dart Go Go had a set of green stripe tires on it when I got it in 1966. There were some places doing custom stripes, and I think you could get a yellow and maybe a blue, all thin like the red lines. I don’t know how they did it, but it looked factory. I wish I could find out if anyone does it now. The green I had was a lime green and it looked cool with the stock yellow paint.

there's custom shops that stripe tires, check around with the local lowriders, bikes and tuner crowd. there's also DIY kits out there.

even though they're made by BFG they somehow have a lower UTQG rating, i'm guessing that it's a different, harder compound along with the different tread design.

so i'd say they're a step down from the regular T/A's, but if you're about that look then they're the choice.

Thanks for the pictures and thoughts about switching tires. Currently have the T/A tires mounted on Cragar S/S wheels.
Back in 1966 I had a Dodge Yellow 1965 Dart GT with Redline tires mounted on Cragar S/S wheels. I liked the look and used Redline tires until I traded it in for a "family" car. (Yeah, I kick myself often for getting rid of it!! ) Anyhow I thought car looked pretty good and was thinking they might look just as good a the T/A tires. What do you think?

I like the look of the redline tires on the 1960's mopars. I think the redlines would look good on your car.

I got my redline tires from Diamondback tires. Diamond Back III - 14 Inch White Wall Tires & 15 Inch White Wall Tires

They are BF Goodrich radial T/A's that have the white letters stripped off, and a redline vulcanized on them. I like the nice smooth finish.

I'm not a fan of the Silvertowns. The ones I have seen have a lot of raised black lettering, and looks kind of busy to me.

Have had them on my car for 3 years now and still look like new.

Diamondback Redlines on my Dart. My Dart came from the factory with Redlines and so I went back to them when I restored the car. The Cragar's have been on the car since 1971.

Now that is a good-looking car. Your car and Glen30’s are my favorite setup on the early Darts.The black with body stripes and red stripes is just perfect. I’m willing to bet those original Cragars are better than the ones you can get today.

Yeah todays Cragar's are close in looking like the originals, but if you know what you're looking at, it's easy to tell which are real and which are repop's. My car had steel wheels with the dog dish hub caps which was okay, but everyone in town at the time was getting Cragar's or Keystones on their Mopar's. I opted for the Cragar's. Still happy I made that choice. Bought all 4 wheels with lugs nuts for $149.00 at the local Hi-Performance dealer.
