Just purchased a yamaha v max and the side air scoops are aluminum shot with a clearcoat. Some of it is coming off and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to remove and what to shoot on it? Thanks for any help
Also I read once about lightly sanding the surface to remove any bad spots.

aircraft stripper and a good polishing with mothers and it,ll look like chrpme

If they are not smooth you could media blast them to remove the bad clear, then have them clear powder coated. If they are smooth then maybe you could just "polish" it all off.

Will easy off oven cleaner do it any good? I know i hose my trannys down with it then pressure wash em before taking them to the shop for a rebuild.
