Trying to figure out how to remove the dash vents from the dash near the windshield and only succeeding in making a mess. It looks like some screws are in there?

Does the dash have to come out?? Ugh...

You unsnap the defroster hose tensioners and slip them off. Then there are three nuts on some plastic nubs on each vent to remove. Lift out the vents.

Is unsnapping the hose tensioner done from the top or under the dash

You will have to get in an uncomfortable position almost standing on your head and reach under the dash and look up there with a flashlight and move the tensioner and pull the hoses off. Then get a socket, it looks like a 5/8 to me on an extension and carefully turn them counterclockwise about three times till they come off. You can certainly do it without taking the dash out. By the way, taking the dash out involves removing the windshield.

You can get the hose clips to release from the top with a small screwdriver! Just loosening the tensioner does not release the hose from the clips, and if you pull on the hose at all, you will rip it as the clips are holding the wire inside of the hose!

You will also find that one of the nuts cannot be removed with a nut driver, it must be done with a 1/4" socket because of the thick wall of the but driver will not allow it to get between the nut and the side of the vent!
