I’m hesitant to pry it off due to its stored energy. Pry bar? Also, getting the new lower tension springs on looks interesting!

I would remove the hinge and chuck it into a vice. In the open or closed position,(dont remember which) the spring does not have as much tension. Also the spring is not preloaded when put on.

This hinge restoration guy I spoke to said he breaks a finger nail on just about every Mopar coil hinge he re assembles.
