We are having our Demon repainted and I can save some labor dollars by removing the grille, bumpers, etc. It looks like the roof rail trim is pinched onto the body. Is there a fairly easy way to remove it without screwing it up?

Thanks,

Mark

I have had success using the nylon trim removal tools from HF.
Others have used a "church key" as well.

GENTLY pry up from bottom and roll it off the top, take your time, be gentle.

The bottom edge should be loosened first by gently and evenly going along the entire lip. Take your time. Using a small piece of wood will help.with leveraging it off in some places. Put even pressure on the edge so you don't end up with a rough spot everywhere you pry. If you try to get all of it off at one end you could end up with a twist in the chrome. Good luck!

I did a thread a while back that showed my homemade tool and it's use for removing drip rail mouldings. The thread is called "drip rail removal tool" and is about 8 pages down in the search. I tried to copy and paste it here, but didn't succeed. Good luck with the project, Geof

Easiest way I've found is to get it started at the right end(if right handed) and slip the thinnest putty-knife you can find under it and tap the putty knife slowly and carefully down the strip, you'll find it comes off without much trouble at all.

I straighten and polish trim professionally and what I usually see is very small or even large distorted areas at each point where folks try to work it off the lip by lifting it upward.........just sayin'

I can confirm, Mongoose's way works. starting is a little hairy, but if you gently lift the end (top or bottom) off, you can squeeze a skinny-*** putty knife in there and tap away.
