Is it hard to remove all the front cover components on a 66 170CID Slant 6? I'm doing some underhood detailing on my 65 Valiant which now has a 66 170 Slant 6. I've already done the mount, manifolds, freeze plugs, valve cover, carb, alternator bracket, and air cleaner. Now I'm wanting to clean and detail the fan, fan spacer, water pump, timing cover, and damper. This is a damper with no crank bolt. What kind of remover do I need to use? I might let a shop remove and reseal the oil pan will it cause a problem if I don't change the oil pan gasket when I remove the timing cover?

You really need to replace the gaskets while you have it apart. "in for a penny in for a pound" as the Brits would say. As for the damper use a socket and remove using bolt on damper puller NOT a gear puller. The gear puller will remove the outer from the inner ring and ruin it.
