Removing trim tape glue?

Got some really dried stuck on trim tape on my Duster, nothing I've tried yet removes it very easily. Anyone got some miracle cure thats works to remove this stuff? Without taking the paint off that is :)
 
Any body shop supply should have wheels to get the job done. They are made just for this
they look like eraser material
 
Works good. at most parts stores. Get a plastic scraper or plastic razor blades. You can use a stripe eraser tool in a drill. ask the parts store for one of those too.

never heard of VMP Naptha - looked it up - under Helpful Tip - Do not use as a general purpose cleaner. Do not use as a thinner for water-based paints, latex coatings, or shellac. I'm thinking it would work - - too well! The Goo-b-gone idea may be helpful but I'm thinking that stuff has a mild abrasive in it...? Anyone? Again - WD-40 works for this kind of thing and cleans off easily with warm water and soap. Spray the WD onto a soft rag (100% cotton t-shirts work great!) rather than straight onto the car.
 
WD is the miracle stuff for anything, I also used it to take tar off my motorcycle windshield without scratching it. The 3M stuff is good also but I think wd is easiest to use.
 
the tool i described does not harm the paint at all. use in a die grider or drill motor
 
Thanks guys, lots of good answers, The WD40 hasn't worked that well, but maybe more elbow grease is required, I have lots of it at least, that stripe off wheels looks the ticket, hopefully available down here. Some things are just damn hard to find down here.

Toolmanmike knows his stuff... Try wetting rag in this stuff and holding it on the decal. You will need to reapply often but this stuff works. Comes in a quart can also which lasts forever.
 
The three basic solvents are: Water, Rubbing alcohol, or petroleum based solvents...

What about goo-gone?
 
To each their own but have mucho personal experience .
Do not use chemicals to remove adhesive from an automotive painted surface if you want to maintain that finish. Even on modern clearcoat finishes. Your paint finish is just like your skin with pours and needs to be treated gently when stripped of protective wax to perform any detail or toxin removal work.

I have used naptha/lighter fluid on tape adhesives, 3M masking tapes and others. Top coat was a 2k urethane though. Never, and I mean never had an issue with using it.
 
To the naked eye you may not see problems right off but rest assured they will eventually develope in your finish. Run an automotive paint meter over areas you have treated with abrasive cleaning chemicals as compared to rest of your finish.
Very eye opening.
