@go-fish

During the BPE discussion on their replacement head, the train falls off the rails some into the performance then race head talk. So I figured as go-fish made a comment about an off set pushrod replacement W series head. What’s out there that could be used in place of the W2 or W5 heads that are now missing. Well, W5 for sure as of today’s offerings. W2 heads are still available. Though many gasp at an iron heads use.

Off hand as I’m writing this, I can’t think of an offset pushrod/rocker head out there now. While you could do this with an Edelbrock or Speedmaster head, there is t one offered as cast with any offset.

Perhaps NC engine builder may know for sure of a 48* head will fit a stock block and work without hassles.

Summit lists the W2 as not available at this time. Probably out of production.

However! If you have the money for a set, just keep an eye out and be ready to buy because these W series heads pop up from time to time at various places.

As far as I know, you can still buy the indy 360-1 and 360-2 and those are the closest thing that exists to a aluminum W2.

What's wrong with a Edelbrock victor head ?

All Mopar W-series heads, both cast iron and aluminum, are currently out of production.

The Edelbrock Victor series race head does show up in stock occasionally on Summit's website, so it is probably still being produced. As I write this there is one single Victor race head in stock on Summit's website. I check these occasionally and they do come in stock and then slowly go back out of stock when they are bought up. They are on my wish list.

Brett Miller is currently a good source to get a more customized version of the Edelbrock Victor casting. He gets them raw and works his magic on them. Anyone serious about a new head should be able to contact him for order info and details.

Looks like INDY is the only one? We need more options, I’d be in for a set or 2.

One of the bigger concerns is the lack of aftermarket, or R3 blocks. Once you get into maximizing the potential of an offset rocker head, you have crossed into the 650 plus HP zone. At this point, one better have the block to handle this type of power.

Although most of us on FABO love our LA platforms, this is another reason why the Gen 3 Hemi architecture looks so appealing. Stock Gen 3 Hemi blocks are good for 1000HP and stock heads flow better than ported W2's. Don't even get started on a cost by cost analysis, the old architecture loses badly here also.

Just opinions from a W2 user.

Which one of those Indy heads flows more? I would assume the 360-1 since its ports appear bigger and are rectangle, but that's not always the case.

You would be surprised how much it takes to make a Gen 3 make an honest 650 horsepower. It isn’t cheap.
I have seen a lot of power adder gen 3 stuff that makes great power, but the N/A stuff I have seen that’s semi fast isn’t common at all.

I'm not a GEN 3 guy by any means, But my brothers 6.4 N/A GEN 3 with bigger injectors, a better fuel pump and a E85 tune went 10.90 last week at 4230 lbs , DA 400ft

Was that a Charger or Challenger?
