Restored car pet peeves

-
Keep in mind, people, this is "restored" pet peeves... which to me means something that seems out of place or not as claimed. I'll NEVER rag on someone for having the wrong style hose clamp on their car- I'm happier than a pig in slop just to see the old beauties still on the road and cared for by people who love them.

I hate as part of a restoration replacing every freggin window gaskets, aligning them perfectly and they still leak water.

and I like body color thru the grills! “Don’t hate me because I am beautiful.”

Only thing that makes me gag is guys that try to act like John Force leaving the car show in their POS clapped out 85 Camaro and do a one wheel peel for 1/8 mile down the road while oncoming traffic is honking and stopping. I get embarrassed just being in the general vicinity. I guess you could call that a pet peeve.

Or the Every Mustang owner ever burnout and looses control of the car leaving a car show. Lol!

I really don't have much of a complaint about other people's builds...their money, their expertise, their imagination...EXCEPT!!! For the when these "Jack Legs" have a drop dead restoration or build...with freaking "wagon wheels" on them. AND!!! Brag on the damn things. :wtf:

Cars shows are not all the same either!

Mopar only shows that are judged are the best IMO! Let’s you know we’re you really stand!

Where you need to improve and where you are lacking!

Otherwise the average open show or participant voting is a crapshoot and based on preference!

I like them all, and the shows always bring new contacts and friends to the front! Win, win!

Oh I'm sure I've been many of persons pet peeves at a car show, pulling up in a long duration 108 camshaft with 5 ft of exhaust twin 3 inch with turn downs disturbing the peace and kicking s*** all over the feather duster crowd, sorry guys nice car.

Kerndog says, The core support with NO blackout on every car that isn't black. A guy restores a car and fails to paint the support black, so now you see the body color on the other side of the grille.
Unfortunately, I'm guilty of this, but hope to get to it when I restore the grill. Lol
Spray it from underneath. That's what the factory did. Splatter on the underside of the hood? Perfect. Just the way it left the factory.

Can't beat the bang for the buck it offers.

But they have essentially zero value. People take them straight out of junkyards, bolt turbos on them, make 700HP, blow them up, rinse and repeat. Where's the respect in that? When I build an engine, no matter how low the budget, I treat them with respect. Almost as if they're a living breathing thing. They do eat, breath in their own way, expel exhaust. Engines are a marvel of engineering, IMO. It's a damned wonder they run at all. As many as I've torn down and built, that's still hard for me to get my head around. I mean, I know how they run, it's just damned amazing all those parts come together and make a power plant. And then there are the LS guys. lol

And never forget to actually drive the damn thing and enjoy it! That’s what they are really for!

The ONE (well two or three or fifty) thing that irks me is DONK or "semi" DONK wheels on classic cars

Another is fake "blower injectors" with fake "throttle blades" You want to run tunnel ram/ carb scoops? Not a problem. But "throttle blades" is tacky. and stupid. and downright silly.

Some dark colors got it and some did not. There as been posts about this where light colored original cars didn't get any black. But I will say, black and dark colors usually didn't get coated.
