Restoring 727

Can anyone recommend best product to clean your dirty tranny case and what colour and type of paint would be the original on a 69 dodge dart.

mineral spirits works good, some kind of degreaser and a pressure washer and they were unpainted.

I take mine to the Local NAPA machine shop. The have a non-caustic (I think that's the right term) hot tank that cleans them spotless for $30.

Bob's right, they were not painted.

internal parts can be cleaned with brake-clean and blown dry.

To start with if you dont have a parts washer etc, use Diesel fuel, then finish with brake clean, blow out with high pressure air, watch your eyes too!

yea. definately watch your eyes. two days ago while rebuilding my 727 i pulled a Dumb and Dumber and sprayed it directly in my face. :banghead:
