Hey guys, is a return line necessary on a mechanical fuel pump? If not necessary, are there any improvements with it? I just finished my fuel cell install (see attached pics). I drilled the cell and put a -6 bulkhead with flare cap (so I don't have to drain it later) . Later, I'll be installing a Holley Blue pump and regulator which will definitely have a return.

Thanks!
Greg

Oh yeah, you can see the filler tube in one of the pics. My car is too close to the garage wall to remove the tube. It has no gas, so I can't back it up to pull the tube!!

yes the return line helps to keep from over presuring your needle and seat. The pump is designed to supply more fuel than you can use so the extra has to go some place and without the return that someplace will be down your intake manifold...LOL
