How do I change a reverse shift valve body back to factory (standard) shift? It is a cable shifted 727.

Replace the valve body in the trans with a standard pattern valve body. A stock valve body is all you need. If the shifter is designed a for reverse valve body, you'll have to replace it as well. You also have to replace the kickdown linkage from the carb to the trans. Try to get everything from a car with a drivetrain similar to yours. Take everything! From the intake manifold mounting bracket to the kickdown linkage arm on the trans. You'll need it all to make it work correctly. Adjustment is critical to the life of your trans, so find a shop manual or have a trans shop set the linkage properly. It's that simple.
