Here are some pics of the car that I will be working on. I bought the coil over kit from RMS. I will not start installing for another couple of week. I’ll also be adding the 4 speed auto with lockup as well. I’ve read all the threads on this swap and will be asking questions as I go. I still need to get the subframe connectors ordered and the cross member from us car tool.

So I got the subframe connector and trans cross member ordered yesterday. It will take about 3 weeks to get them. They should be at the house by the time I get home. I’m in Tampa working and should be on the road in a week or two. I’m pretty stoked about this new suspension as I have never done one of these before. I have had the car about 2 years now and haven’t done anything to it except drive it. Right now it handles like a small boat in a big sea storm. All the shocks are shot. No sway bar front or rear. The drum brakes are on there last leg. Only one in the front and one in the back is working. I hope by the end of January it will be back together and a lot more fun to drive.

The instructions are pretty straightforward. Except I don’t read instructions until I do something wrong. My two mistakes ( one was a disaster) 1st was putting the Willwood discs together. I got the pattern off for the wheel lugs on the hub had to heat up to take apart. 2nd huge mistake was I hooked up the pressure side of the power rack to the wrong port and blew out my new shiny power rack. I installed mine with the motor and trans still in the car. I just had to remove my headers.

I will have to call Bill. I’m very upset now. You gout an item I did not get. BEER. I didn’t get any beer with mine. Just some stickers.

my plan is to drop all of it out the bottom at one time. I have never done this so I’ll be learning as I go. Going back I’ll be trying to cut the crossmember for the 4 speed auto. I also plan on pulling the top end of both the motors I have (both 318) just to see what I actually have. The one in the car runs good but has a lifter going flat. The other came out of the truck with the trans.
The power rack I got is used but in good shape. (Free.99). It does have a busted hard line but that’s a simple fix. Thanks for the heads up on brakes. I’ll be watching for that.

I sold off a pile of parts and a really nice first gen to make all this happen. If I get this done in a reasonable amount of time I’ll be ordering the complete rear suspension next.

Lol. The beer was the payment for the buddy that picked it up for me. Bills place is only about 3 hours from where I leave.

If the rack doesn’t work for some reason. You can get a mustang 2 rack. That’s what I did when I blew mine up. Bill recommended it to save some cash. It’s was $150..00. New. He said the only difference is the polished housing pretty much.

So I got home and got started. I’m at a stoping point till I go down to pick up a manual rack and pinion from bill on Friday. So far the install has been pretty routine. I need to pull the steering column to get the pin out of the shaft and I’ll be removing the whole suspension so I can get the motor and trans back in. Sub frame connector and trans mount are not here yet. So I’m gonna put the motor and 904 back in it till they get here.

I’m having a hard time finding 18x10 steel wheels. Anyone got a line on some.

that system just about falls into place.. when i did mine years ago i couldn't believe how easy it was to do. you'll enjoy the results. sucks that he is so far away now.. used to be a easy 2 hour drive from me.

You are absolutely correct. I can’t wait to get the rear ordered and installed. I’ll start that problem in mid January

Haven’t posted in a long while. Got some updates on the car. Got the front end completed and also got the rear suspension in. Car handles totally different now. Basically I love it. Hear are a few pics

Read the instructions a couple of times. The front has machined spacers. 2 are longer than the other 2. Short ones go in the back. Ask me how I know. Lol

That one little tip might have saved me a big headache. ..thanks!

Looks great. I’ve done the front and I’m thinking about doing the rear. Do you feel the rear conversion was worth it for difference in handling? I like how tucked up your tires are in wheel well. Is it mini tubbed?

Not minitubeed. Handling wise I have only gotten to drive the car a couple of times and I can tell it’s a major difference. It’s like a go kart. As long as the tires will stick it will stay where you put it. And the adjustable shocks are nice cause it will let you soften the ride for every day driving. I’m waiting on a motor to show up in February then pull entire drivetrain out and put in new 408/Tremec 5 speed. I decided to ditch the auto
