Ring and Pinion Tips / Questions

OK I have decided to try and change out my own R&P. I have tried several people but either no one wants to do it, no local machine shops do it or charge an outrageous amount of money.

Now anyone have any tips that you can recommend?

Also should I get the Summit depth tool?

Or does someone know another way of doing this without it? I already have a magnetic stand and a dial indicator.
