Did you measure the ring channel on your pistons? Thanks everyone. I ordered the 1/16 rings and they should be correct
You need new pistons, don't use the same old ones.I’m partway through building the bottom end of my 383. I was just about to gap the piston rings but when I test fit them they won’t go in the grooves on the pistons…
Do I need special rings or something? 30 over TRW L2293 dome pistons and Hastings 30 over moly rings.

I knew a fellow that had a basement full of piston blanks. Made pistons to order. How do you think those grooves got there in the first place? Not debating this, there are different ways to an end goal.No...
Cutting ring lands in new pistons, is practical, obviously.I knew a fellow that had a basement full of piston blanks. Made pistons to order. How do you think those grooves got there in the first place? Not debating this, there are different ways to an end goal.

Just makes you wannaGood Lord, a check with a feeler gauge will answer this question of what size the ring grooves are.
