I don't think they let anybody know, until after the fact. What bothers me the most, though, is that my wife and I were just talking about him last night. Our son showed us a new video released a few days ago, and my wife commented that he was looking old. She's been a Bowie fan all of her life. I made the comment that it's going to be a punch in the gut to her when he passes, and then he does. Seems rather prophetic that this was the last video of his released before his death

I believe that he's releasing a new album from the news reports that I've heard. He passed just before the release.
 
Holy smokes... we were just talking about him at work - new album, looking old etc.. never had any idea he was sick. God speed old boy.
 
Another creative music icon gone.
Soon there wont be any left....... just a bunch of digitally created crap that todays

I have a similar opinion.
But I was surfing youtube and spotted this.
The Big Name in the cover title got my attention.
I was blown away by them. Who has heard of her?
Life isn't fair, is it?

According to a BBC article he was battling cancer (no details) for the past 18 months. One of his close friends said his last album released a few days ago was intended as a "parting gift" so it sounds like he knew his time was limited.

I'm crushed... I "discovered" him a few years ago and have listened through his whole discography, truly an artistic genius and his lyrics were so deep and on-point.
 
Can't get Major Tom out of my head since I heard the news early this am.
