I have a large supply of free used pipe, and would like your thoughts on building a rotisserie useing all round pipe. I know it would require more fitting, but was concerned with strength. what would be your thoughts.

I think round pipe is stronger than square tubing of the same size.

Round tubing is stronger than square tubing but water pipe is not. Water pipe can split in its seam.
So many of us want a rottesirie just for one project car. Too bad there isn't a lease option. Even at 30 bucks per month ( 360 per year ) it would take 3 or 4 years to recover the initial investment. A company like AutoZone could do it.

Here are some other plans

That one on the MG would work for an A body, but, I'd prefer a ste up in wall thickness from .120 to .188 in some of the frame sections.

Round tube will likely be stronger if DOM pipe, BUT, it will cost you a bunch more than square tube. Round tube really isn't needed. Structurally, you're not taxing the materials to it's limits.

Only way I would use round tube is if I had it laying around already.

Too bad you are not around mid-Ga. My son has a rotisserie that he has rented out a few times.

Ican get the pipe free, and will fit it togather properly. just takes more time. curious? What would be rent when I am done . Week, Month, ?

I built one a few years back, cost me about $450. and a couple weeks to weld it all up, in my spare time...I'd rent it to you but my Dart is still hanging on it...

Mopar Al, we usually get $15/week or $40/month. Most folks will use it for a month, maybe two. We also have a bucket of bolts, angle iron and some flat strap for folks to use when securing their car; often we get back more than went out if someone needed a different size or something other than what we provided.

I'm a Auto Restoration guy, after many years of using rotisseries I was looking for somthing different so I came up with this concept sure works for good us!
I'm about ready to take this Super Bee out of the Hoops, so this set of hoops and jigs will be avalible to rent or purchase. I'm located in Lincoln, Neb. so if anyone is close come on over.

Welcome Doug :)
So what would the hoop setup cost including everything shown ?
Detailed plans and materials list would be great.

On another post here he gave this ling to a company thet sells them: http://www.rollerhoop.com/
Cost is between $1,100 & $1,900 depending on what all options you want. Didn't see plans for one but it does look interesting.

id gladly lend it free to a good cause. if i get of my *** i can have that car off in a month. its not fancy but it will easily hold a complete car. if i keep it lent out i dont have to store it. i live neer youngstown.

Damn. If you were close, I would rent that from you in a minute.

I don't need it that quick as over winter I tend to not work as much on the cars. You know how it is in Ohio without a heated garage. I live near Dayton so it would be about a 3 hour drive but worth it. If your serious let me know and we can work something out.

I built my own was very easy. made out of square 2x2x3/16 . It is very basic but works just fine. I have less than $500 into it go for it just build in strength.

Maybe find one on ebay or Craig's list.

Thanks cudaman51. Good link with valuable info. I just hope when it's my time to go for it I can find it again.
