running gear swap difficulty

I decided to buy a 71 duster with a built 340 a a833 tranny and a 8 3/4 rear end. this is a donor car for my 72 dart. will motor tranny and rear go in with out having to cut driveshaft? the car currently has a 318 904 7 1/4. what all is involved?

If your gonna swap everything..engine/tranny/rearend then yes it will all go in.Make sure to get a box of zip-loc lunch bags and bag and tag EVERY nut,bolt,washer,clips,hose,cables.this way you won,t lose anything.Good luck and remember we,re all here to help if you get stuck with anything.:thumrigh:

Off the top of my head I would say different wheelbase means the shaft should not fit. However between the two you have you should be able to make one.

im really excited to do this. I bought the car from a local speed shop that did the motor and tranny build and it comes with two center drop outs. for what i bought it for i couldnt have them build me a 414 so i think i came out ahead. pics to come soon.

It should all swap over except the driveshaft. Why not fix the Duster? If it's a genuine 340 car, it would be worth more. (and looks better in my opinion)

X2 It took me a time or two to figure out bag and tag is the way to go. So much easier to pick up a bag of parts and know exactly what they are and where they go.

I do plan on fixing up the duster. But my Dart is my first real muscle car and I have grown really attached to it and want to finish it first. The duster i plan on going panther pink so me and my wife can cruise together and she feels cool in a pink car. Even i have a soft spot for the panther pink cars.
