Went to my shop today to do a little work on two 340 blocks that I got back from the machine shop a couple of months ago and after mounting the first one on an engine stand I found that the bores in this block had light rust in all the bores! OOOOH NOOOO, Got a clean rag and some motor oil and wiped down each bore, it helped a little, but not all the rust was removed. My question to anyone here is, will this cause a problem when I put this engine together? Thanks for the help ahead of time.

I would expect the rust is much thinner than the hone marks, so shouldn't cause a problem. Just pour some oil thru the spark plug holes and turn it over by hand a few times before you try to start it. This suggests that many engines get slight rust on the cylinder walls while sitting for months, and it probably doesn't cause any damage.

..reminds me of a barn find my friend had.
he pulled the heads and 1 cyl was full of rust and water
your not going to believe this but he took the rust off with 320 grit sandpaper
that firebird. still runs fine.
