Sad day in Nascar when Toyota is running and Dodge is not..

What is the deal with that? Not saying much for Dodge rite now
 
toyota has a lot of money and fiat does not..
 
Yup, all it will take now is for me to see the first Nissan and I'll not watch another race!
 
Does it matter what brand is printed on the cars? Is ther a single part on a NASCAR stock car that comes on a production vehicle?

Exactly right. We are lucky to still have Chrysler. It has changed hands quite a few times in the past years as well as the Chapter 11/ Government bailout. Hopefully someday soon Fiat will decide to continue the program. Mopar dominated the Truck Series a few years ago. It can be done. tmm

It's my understanding that one of the main reason Dodge isn't in Nascar is because they haven't been able to hook up with a top running team. They are waiting for someone worthwhile to become available, when their contracts are up for renewal. It would make sense not wanting to spend millions on a mid or rear pack competitor.
 
Penke took a longer term offer from furd that what dodge was offering...dodge was not able at the time to secure a team that would have been competitive ...so they parked it..

Makes sense from a business perspective.
 
The thing about it, Dodge comes closer to whats being ran in NASCAR.
V8 engine & rear wheel drive.
All other mfr's are running ghost cars. I think Chevrolet's SS car will RWD whenever they do arrive in the showroom.

How about a magazine shoot out with the SRT Hellcat Charger, Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, & the SS when it arrives.
I would like to see the show room cars run against each other.

Dodge is still involved in CASCAR, with good results.

It probably make more sense for Dodge to sponsor a race, than fund a couple of teams.
Since what they are racing don't represent what they sell.
 
Im betting Dodge's fortunes change soon. Seen a truck commercial today during the Olympics.Full size pickup getting 40 mpg highway is what people want. Gas being so expensive,hooking up with fuel miser Fiat was the right move.
 
I used to be a big NASCAR fan but it just isn't interesting anymore. I haven't watched a race in probably 4 years and I used to watch every race. Go back to "stock" cars in the extent of allowed modifications of the 60s and 70s and you would get way more interest IMO. Maybe one car or brand ends up dominating oh wel, it will make everybody else try harder. The current NASCAR feels like an army of cloned t-ball players where everybody gets a trophy.

they are clones! don`t watch anymore, not interesting w/o chryslers.:protest:
 
If you were watching the Nationwide race on Saturday, two Dodges were in it .Mike Wallace and Mark Harmon, Wallace started from the back , and he came up into the top ten , finished 11th .I was impressed .
 
Chrysler had one the best with Keselowski.They need not think they are going to get a bowtie boy to come over from another camp for a dodge .

Yes I watched it, and announced it in the NASCAR racers thread. there was four but only 2 made the cut..
It sure was good to see and yes!! They are waiting on a strong team to pick them up.
 
Too many turns for me :). Honestly though how much of a role does a manufacture play in these cars though. They just send the teams money correct? I'm a little ignorant on the nascar subject.

Can't wait! Love watching; hoping to make it to Maple Grove in October! Fingers crossed...

The missing Dodges were victims of rain that washed out qualifying. Those teams did not have enough owner points to make the cut.
 
Instead of screwing around with Cup and Nationwide cars to make them more like stock, I'd like to see a new class created to run companion races with all three NASCAR series.

Bodies would have to come off a factory production line and only safety changes could be made like fuel cells, stripping the interior, etc. Engines would be picked randomly from the factory line and sealed. Tires would be DOT approved, and pump gas would be mandatory.

Run a fifty lap race with those cars before a Cup race and watch the oldtimers flock back to the track.

I just happened to catch the Nationwide race, I didn't realize they raced Mustangs and Camaros too,
 
Check out allpar for some very good inside info on why Dodge is no longer in Nascar. It has gotten to the point over there that the Nascar threads have been censored or even locked for hitting too close to home on the subject! Long story short it simply boils down to two things advertising budget and Sergio Marchionne. As long as Sergio is the main man at FCM... Dodge will not be in Nascar period. The Italians at Fiat do not get Nascar at all and do not see the benefit or value in spending a large amount of money supporting Dodge cup cars. Stock car racing is lost in translation with those guys. The racing budget is now being spent on advertising. Like the Nascar scoring board on Fox brought to you by Ram and Super Bowl commercials...

Dodge had a chance to sign a long term contract of 5 years with Penske and they would not commit. So Ford stepped in and now the rest is history. The BS about Dodge not being able to find another competitive team to replace Penske is simply PR spin. Fiat will not spend the large amounts of money that it takes to run at that level in a sport they do not understand or want to be a part of. I'm sure they are also conserving some cash while Chrysler gets back on its feet... but a majority of the racing budget has simply been transferred over to advertising.

I wonder if Ferrari had to cut back on their F1 budget?

They definitely had it good with Keselowski! Plus he came from a Mopar family... His Dad drove Chrysler stock cars and trucks for years. Mopar is going to have a hard time finding any good teams that will commit to them! Chrysler has burned a lot of bridges by showing very inconsistent support for their teams over the years. It will take a serious long term contract and major funding offer to get big teams thinking about switching to Mopar. Unfortunately this will never happen under Sergio Marchionne.
