Not sure where I should post this thread its kind of a random question, I'm wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how much media an average size sand blaster goes through while blasting? I know there are a million variables but just some examples would be great.
Thank you

That's hard to say but around 1/2 gallon a minute.

So many variables. Ballpark- if sand, unit may take 1qt to fill and is recirculated until sand is reduced to powder and no longer effective and replacement is required. The length of time will vary upon the quality of the sand, the pressure used and the hardness of the item blasted.

Also depends on what kind of unit you have. A cabinet style with or without filtration? A standalone pressurized unit? A cabinet with filtration will "use" less, because you're essentially recycling media. A pressurized sandblaster will go through a whole lot more, because you're just pissing it into the environment. You can filter used media after you've collected it, but it's tedious and you need the correct screen.

You were talking about blasting a hood in another thread, so I'm assuming (?) you're talking about a pressurized unit?
