Sent the cam back to Comp. They looked at it and said it can be reground with a .030" smaller base circle so that is what they are going to do. That should provide at least .025" of oil groove coverage at max lift.
Getting lifter bushings installed is anywhere from $500-$700 depending on the shop. Yes, it is extremely expensive. But my understanding is they have to have jigs for a small block mopar in order to do it. And I wouldn't let them do it unless they have done a small block mopar before. Its not the same as a small block chevy.
You can have the bushings drilled for oiling prior to being installed for hydraulic cams or if you want the lifter to have pressurized oil for push rod oiling.
Swap that set with a set that does not stick up too high. If the gap dissappears it's the lifters, if it doesn't it's the camBut it is only 3 lifters.
I can't believe this thread has gone on for 3 pages, someone early on gave you the fix,
" goto hughes engines website and do a bit of reading " that would have saved you all these hassles. They make a lifter designed to fix all these problems, it is made with the oiling collar a lot lower down. This problem has been known for literally years, don't you guys read any of these threads and take anything in????
