Is there any difference between 318,340 and 360 rods? If so, what?:glasses3:

Some of them were bushed for floating pins, but other than that, they are the same. The 273 rods are a lot lighter AND bushed for floating pins and are the same length.

Didn't the late 60's 318 have lighter rods than the heavier 340's then went to the same in the 70's.Not sure of the years on these but they are all 6.123 in length.

No. Some of the early 318s had the light 273 rods. Mopar Performance used to sell a long discontinued rod based on the 273 rod. They are hard to find now.

Hay guys, thanks for the info, great information and now I know what I am looking for.

273 and 67-70 318s are same. SOME 71-72 318s had the 496 rods, as found in 68-71 340s. All 73 up LAs used the 645 rods, as did all LA 360s and 72-73 340s. The 71-72 318s are a crapshoot. I have seen all three rod variations in the 71-72 318s, on virgin engines still containing their date coded bearings. Guess the factory was using whatever was handy, and the logic was "As long as they all match, use 'em." The early rods (number eludes me at the moment) and 496 rods were floating pins, and the 645s were pressed.
