Just wanted to open up a thread for discussion
on these SBM 408"s as a reference for everyone,
present & future to learn from, add-to & share.

Here's the link:

http://www.blueprintengines.com/popular_configurations/index.html?topic=options&pcsci=10

(We'll probably get the alum head/w/o carb/dist unit for $5895.00)

When you add up the cost of your time, money & efforts
spent in building a 408" with this level of quality parts, plus
the related costs of machining & assembly, you see right
away what a "value" it is, especially with the actual dyno
sheet from your engine's break-in run time, and their
awesome 30-month/50,000 mile warranty. These units
can be in your garage in a few days, ready to drop-in!

We're just stoked to learn such a terrific option exists!

HTH all the folks thinking about a SBM stroker.

(Jeg's has selected them to be a supplier or just call them direct.)

I have seen these guys pop up on Moparts and BBD. I haven't heard good nor bad, just bits and pieces about their engine offerings. I think that they offer a few nice combinations and the prices are not too bad either. Sometimes though, its a tough pill to swallow all at once. I think that the majority of us piecemeal our motors together when we have the extra cash to either buy parts or have machine work done. I am real curious though to hear feedback from actual users (especially after a year or so of consistent use).

Crate motor..never,no,nada...i like the piece of mind knowing exactely what components went into my stroker and who built it...we refer to crate motors around here as "crap" motors...

I've got $5400 in my 408 with eddy heads and a roller cam. Sounds like a bargain!

Hey 2Lane - I think 340srule means he likes to physically see the parts that go into the engine, not be given a list of what supposedly it does have in it.

That said, I would love to hear comments from someone who bought one.

Lastly - I also subscribe to the piecemeal method GTXperience talks about. My 340 is getting what it needs one piece at a time as my wallet allows...and maybe someday, when I do decide on an overhaul. Its hands down going to Hughes for a 416 rebuild if I can afford it.

(1.) That would make it difficult to ever use eBay, Jeg's, Summit...or do

anything by mail order. Or buy a new or used car...or ever have a checking

or savings account. Feel sure both Jeg's & Summit visited on-site before

adding them to their catalogs, & have checked them out thoroughly.

(2.) At the rate they're being sold, it won't be long before street/track

results are known. However, if "we refer to crate motors around

here as crap motors", it's really doubtful they'd want to post about it

and would "know better" than to ever waste their time by bringing it up.

No one said: "This is *the* best way to go for everyone!".

It's just another *new* option we're very happy to know about.

It appears to be a very good value, esp. w/the warranty and dyno sheet.

when i can srap up the cash i will buy one of these the price is good thankz for giving us a great option:happy10::read2:
