I have a 69 Barracuda with 10” drum brakes which are SBP. I would like to do a disc brake conversion but keep the SBP, without breaking the bank in the process. Has anyone seen a SBP disc brake conversion available?
If I go to LBP, then I’ll probably want to change the rears to match, then of course I’ll also need to get a set of LBP wheels. Trying to avoid all that if possible.
Any suggestions would be welcome
Thanks

I don't know of any aftermarket manufacturers offering a small bolt pattern conversion. That doesn't mean they wouldn't drill their rotors for the SBP if you asked. An original system is probably the most cost effective. The original systems are offered for sale on here or you can post a wanted ad.

Wilwoods hub is drilled and threaded so you can use small or big bolt pattern:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Are you sure? all The wilwoods I have seen, and a set I have on the shelf, are set up for Ford/Mopar 4.5", and Chevy 4.75", not the Mopar 4 inch.

Edit
Just looked at Wilwoods website, and you are correct. They do offer 4 inch bolt pattern.

Yep, Stroked 340 is correct. You choose which pattern to put the lugs in. That kit is stupid easy to install. Even for me! LOL

Scarebird is sbp
Thanks Guys
Although I like the Wilwoods, Scarebird is half the price.
Since I won’t be racing the car or doing any hard driving, I think the Scarebird will do the trick.
Thanks again. I have found the people on this forum to be very helpful and I do appreciate your advise and suggestions

Remember that the Wilwoods have a hub register that’s over 3” in diameter. You can’t use the Wilwoods with any of the original or factory reproduction SBP wheels, the hub bore is too small. So the Wilwoods are useless if your intent is to keep a set of factory wheels.

Not sure what the hub diameter is on the Scarebird rotors/hubs, but you should definitely find out if the goal is to avoid buying new wheels.

And if you have to buy new wheels anyway, you might as well ditch the SBP altogether and get better front and rear brakes.

I just went with the Pirate Jack disc brake conversion that allows for SBP and I have no real complaints. The price was right as well.

The Pirate Jack kit is the same one I mentioned earlier from MBM. It’s a 73+ disk brake swap with large ball joint spindles. The only difference between it and a 73+ conversion is that the rotor/hubs are drilled for 5x4 and the center register is turned down slightly (but not enough to run all of the factory SBP wheels).

Last I heard, DoctorDiff could provide those rotors as well.

Gotcha. Just offering my thought based on the post. I am aware that Pirate Jack is the MBM set up with redrilled LBP rotors for SBP. I am already running 15” America Racing wheels so clearance was not a concern for me. As a side note, I also chose to replace my UCAs instead of using the crush sleeve adapter for the upper ball joint. More expensive but more natural fit.
