Despite my usual caution, looks like I got caught by a scammer for a lot of /6 parts for my Big Brother project for my little brother. Guy started offering one part, then another, and another...all at bargain prices and help with the shipping cost. Had his boss allegedly giving a bargain on shipping, but needed to get it paid and shipped before the boss left on vacation on Friday...blah, blah, blah. Sent the $ (had to be friends and family otherwise PayPal would hold payment for 21 days, etc, etc).
Sent the cash and the guy becomes a ghost. No shipping confirmation, no replies, etc.

I know, I was the sucker. All, please be forewarned if you ever hear from him. I will gladly retract this if he somehow proves me wrong, but I’m thinking I have to find him and pursue legal action.

the guy you were dealing with is probably not the guy in the picture , no doubt he hacked that guys account . sorry this happened to you .

Just FYI, PayPal doesn’t hold payments for 21 days even when they’re for goods and services. But of course there’s no recourse for you if you send the money “friends and family” and he skips out, which is why he talked you into paying that way.

Never EVER use "friends and family" YOU add the Paypal fees so it does not cost the seller any more and if they don't like that then THEY ARE A THIEF

What kind of slant six stuff do you need? I have a scarce few things.

What he said x 1,000,000. I am truly sorry you lost that money, but when will all you people learn. DO NOT SEND MONEY WITH PAYPAL VIA FRIENDS AND FAMILY. How many thousands of times has that been discussed here.

Ultimate gonna be looking for everything, and trying to pull it together on a shoestring budget. Got a lead on a $300 car, still gotta see what it needs. Gotta make it run, make it safe, then make it cool!

So you need an engine?

So, What was the deal for with the scammer?

Stated out as a Clifford intake, then headers and a cam, then added a a slant six engine and transmission to go with it. All with the “want to help the kid out” and “promise to send pics of him working on it”.
Now it’s back to square one, and saving to get him something. Pushes the project back a few months

When it comes to the friends & family I learned the hard way also.

Kudos for posting this so the rest of us are aware of the scumbag. It takes a pretty secure person to admit to making a mistake so others can possibly learn.

If he's in Florida and you're in Florida why wouldn't you do the purchase in person?

Just go get the stuff from him, his presence is all over the web...? Question before you waste your time: What charges are you going to bring against him...interstate wire fraud? If your really serious about a craigslist add that seems hinky, ask him to put it on ebay at the sell it now price and have him send you the link, then you can buy, pay by paypal and POSSIBLY have a chance with Ebay or Paypal on getting your item or your money back...better than nothing. I thought there was a sales app on Android that you post something, someone buys it through the app and the money gets sent to a broker, then when the item is received (some sort of tracking or him clicking the received button.....(?) , the money gets deposited into your account? Well, there should be!

First make sure as posted elsewhere that this person hasn't been hijacked himself. It's happened plenty where an innocent person faces the wrath.

careful posting email addresses, last time I did that here on FABO a few years ago the person who scolded me never used Vaseline.
It's a repost. Check out the picture in the OP first post of the guys fake business card.

i even had a legit, well know, business tell me they give a 3% discount for check, cash or paypal, the trick with the PP is it's F&F. no thanks, they got a check...
