Hey guys.
First, I'm not sure this is the forum for this, so if its not the best place to post it, just let me know. I have a 69 Dart, 340, AT. I need to use a torque strap. Has anyone used the Schumaker, or is there something else better to use. This is engine has 500 lbs of torque and I don't need much engine movement due to the fixed stainless radiator hoses I'm using. I like the idea of rubber engine mounts for less vibration at the stop light, but I will need to limit the engine twist. Any idea's?

I have a Schumacker torq strap in my 66 Valiant, bolts to the k-frame and then to the engine, it's adjustable and works great :glasses7:

The Schumaker looks like a quality piece. Some will say use a piece of chain, which is old school and will work, but your engine bay deserves better IMO. Plus the torque strap has adjustability.

yeah, it does reduce the engine shake quite a bit with rubber motor mounts.

Love msine on my '73/4spd Cuda and my big block Duster.
Well made, excellent part, looks good too.

Just bought one and fitted it up with engine on a stand and Kframe bolted to mounts. My only issue with it is why didnt they make the center sleeve with a left and right hand thread ends for easier adjustability. Once its adjusted and in place its fine. I am sure theres a good reason for that but I havent figured it out! And yes it looks very good once on!

Because it's cheaper to just buy right hand ends and thread the sleeve for them. I agree, it would have been easier to adjust the way you're suggesting, but it's not too difficult they way they are.

I had a solid mount on my drivers side and absolutely hated the vibration. Went back to rubber mount w the Schumaker strap and vibration is gone. My 340 don't have 500 ft lbs of torque but prior to the strap I ripped 3 rubber mount banging through the gears. Was going to make one but by the time I bought heim joints, pipe and get it powder coated, it was just cheaper to and quicker to go with the Schumaker. Happy with mine.
