Well I know this is sort of off topic, but when I returned from my trip (and I had a great time!) all the fish were in these big rubber maid tanks and the pond was dried up. After over 30yrs it decided to start leaking. Its a concrete pond so I was thinking of using something like a swimming pool paint/sealer. Anyone out there know anything about concrete pools and ponds? These fish cost between $500 and $2K so I don't want to use something that will kill them when I put them back in. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :(

How big of a leak ? Big crack ? May be just get a bag of cament ?

I really can't see any major crack so I was thinking of some kind of brush on sealer. Something a little thicker than regular paint.

Why not just use a rubber pond liner material? Heck, my neighbor made a small pond and used two layers of 6 mil black plastic.

I had a Koi pond for two years, but it was a maitenance nightmare. Not because of the fish or the pond filtration system. It was because I put it in the front entry atrium of my house. It caught all the leaves and run-off water from two roof slopes. What was I thinking when I dug that hole?

Have you thought of an epoxy paint Craig. We use them in our wetlab designs and after they cure they are non-toxic and resist just about everything.

The rubber liner wouldn't look right because we live on a slope and the way the pond is built the liner wouldn't work properly.

Jack you got a product name I can try looking up.

Thanks for the suggestions :salut:

You will have to wait until Monday for a name brand Craig. That is the next time I am at the office unless this is real rush rush. Let me know and I will drop into the office and get the name tomorrow.

Jack

No real rush, I'm gonna scrub the pond down and fix the drain and other little things before I get around to sealing it. Thanks for checking for me :thumrigh:

BTW...when I first read the subject of this post, i thought to myself "What the hell is someone doing SELLING a fish pond on this board for?" :D

I just re-read the subject and see that it says "Sealing"!!

Hey Craig,

I got that name for you. It is Devoe. They make a multitude of epoxy coatings so you may want to talk to the local paint specialists as to the proper one to use for your application. I would suggest a high build type that is made to be emersed in water.

Hotwheelsjr,

I'm not a superstitious person in the least little bit. so sying things like that doesn't bother me. Thanks for the concern though. Now, where did I leave that rabbits foot, oh yea, over there underneath that ladder. LOL

Devoe didn't they have a song in the 80's called "Whip it"?
Guess the music business is rough if there now making epoxy! :headbang:

Hey Kev were you even old enough to listen to DEVO back then :p They wore those funky hats in that video, they wore funky everything in that video :geek:

Thanks for the info Jack. I seen a dealer for that brand here and will check it out this week :thumrigh:
