I agree with, "paint it any color you want" within reason. Unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure this is a long time possession, I would go with a color that was available on a 72 Scamp. If you go with a weird color that you might like, it could hurt resale later. Even if you don't PLAN to get rid of it, a DREAM car at a DREAM price could come up, and you are stuck trying to sell a car with a weird color. That being said, Chrysler had some really nice colors in 72. You should have no problem finding a color that will look real nice on your car. But bottom line is, it's your car.
