Shoulder Harness Position and Routing

I ran into geometry alignment issue when trying to route my shoulder harness in accordance to the NHRA rules. With the harness attached to the crossbar, the slot opening in my seat for the harness is 2 inches lower than the cross bar. Due to my height, I can not raise the seat without my helmet hitting the roof. I can't lower the cross bar because it would be greater than 5 inches below my shoulder. With all that said, and not wanting to change out the seat, is it allowed to run the shoulder harnesses over the shoulder ledges of the seat? The car is a 71 Demon that is for track use only. In my neck of the woods I'll mainly be running 1/8 mile. Being a new build I don't have exact time and speed, but I'm targeting mid to low 7's.

In my 40 yrs of racing I have never had a tech inspector look at where my shoulder harness is...
 
I was able to speak with a tech inspector this weekend and running the harnesses over the top shoulder area of the seat is legal.

Scca, NASA, 4 inch below shoulder.

These rules are not just for ***** and giggles.

If you have a front end crash, you dont want the shoulder belts below your shoulder or over the top of the seat.
 
I have an older dirt late model in my shop. Top running car in its day... no expense spared.

I was shocked to see the seat mounted with four 1/4" bolts!!!

Unbelieveable....

If you have a front end crash, you dont want the shoulder belts below your shoulder or over the top of the seat.

The belts will now be about 1.5" below my shoulders / within the 0* to 20* angle spec. from the bar directly to my shoulders.
