How my fish became a drag car...
So the 4th phase of the build goes like this:
Dave built a 10 second car for less than $10,000 grand.
All the changes from here on are incremental to the original budget
Prepare the body for a good paint job
Trim the front of the rear wheel wells to make a little more room for the 28 x 10.5 Hoosiers
Paint the car
Add a stripe
Race the heck out of it
With a few additional adjustments, the car ran consistently in the low 10's
After some practice, Dave's wife won her first bracket race and more after that

How my fish became a drag car...
As you know, a drag racer never can go fast enough. So Dave made some improvemnts to the B3 to push the car down into the low nines. Not an easy thing to do on 28 x 10.5 tires.
So the 5th phase of the build goes like this:
The stock brakes were replaced with a set of Aerospace disc brakes on all four corners - Better stopping & less weight
Stock K member and front suspension replaced with tubular members - Less weight and stronger
Rear springs replaced with Cal tracs mono spring & traction bars
Calvert racing shocks in the front, Strange Double adjustables in the rear
New Centerline Convo Pro Wheels front & rear
Step up from MSD 6 to MSD 7 Digetal Programable Ignition
And finally the motor was replaced with a 440 stroked to 500, with Indy heads and all kinds of go fast parts - About 750 HP
All the racing Dave did with the car after these changes was 1/8 mile - Best result was 6.119 ET with 1.36 60 foot times. Mid to low nines are in reach.

So, this is where I come in. Never drag raced in my life. Always wanted to. Not getting any younger. Soooo.... got some cash to spend and a friend who wants to teach me to drag race - Time to do it!
So the 6th phase goes like this:
A couple years ago I start looking for a drag car. But first I do some research and run across the B3 articles. I was really impressed with how Dave got such great times out of what intially was a pretty low tech build. I also learned a lot from the B3 articles. One day I go to Racing Junk.com, and holy ****, the B3 was for sale. I called Dave and bought the car.
Two days later I hook my trailer to the Hemi and cruise to Florida to pick up the car. I spent the 1st hour at Dave's place going thru his 8 garages, each with a different project car - Very cool! Dave also has an 8 sec tube chassis 68 Cuda with a blown Hemi. We plan to run both cars side by side down the strip in Columbus this year at the Mopar Nationals. So we load the B3 and some misc extra parts into my trailer and I cruised home
Two weekends later I go to the local track and scare the crap out of myself making my first 2 passes in the car. I did not hurt anyone or bend anything! What a rush!!!!
A couple weekends later I come back and make 4 more passes lifting at 1000 ft each time so as not to go under 10 sec (Need to have a NHRA license to do that or they kick you out of the track). Best time was a 10.7 ET in the quarter mile. Then winter comes so I have to park my fish in the shop.
Next task - Get my license this spring so I can run the bad boy all out!
