Show your slant 6 a body!

-
In 1965 dad brought it home new 225 I was only 1 yr old.
So I grew up with it.
He died in 1985 and I got married, it was a fight to stop my wife getting rid of it.
I won now the kids are grown up and I have time and it's over due.
It's been in the shed since 1990 pulled down.
Dad wanted to put in a four speed, I put in a 5 speed.
Dad wanted timber so I have put inserts in the dash, I will be making a consol that will have timber and I'm waiting for the new timber steering wheel to arrive.
I have an offy 4 barrel manifold and Edelbrock 650 vac to go on. Also Offy rocker cover.
There are the extractors. A tip I learnt from one of the engineers who built and r&d the slant six in the early days said you will not believe what a difference 6-8 feet of twin extentions of the extractors will make before the final callector even twin muffs then join into one.
He said every now and then he would hit 6400 rpm with his 170.
I had to make up a new rear eng mount to suit celica box. I used front eye bush for rear spring prothane.
I have 2 inch lowering spindles and blocks for the rear.
In the eighties a few friends had 302 fords both of which on a freeway run yeah sure they pulled away at first but the overdrive pegged them back and I left them way behind.
Miss driving her bad.
Yeah I know it's a four door it's all mopar gave us here in Aus. It was a few years later we got the VF PACER I owned one that for you guys in the US would be the same as the 1968 dart I think.or road runner.
I am having trouble adding more pics "look at my gallery"

Hey Fred Johnson, I was wondering where that Valiant went, it used to show up at the Cleveland TN cruise in and I wanted that car so bad when it went up for sale. I'll hunt down the other pics I have of it later this week.

After I picked this car up I have rebuilt the transmission, completed all the missing parts under the dash, in the engine compartment and trunk, changed the out the sending unit in the tank. window wiskers added seat belts, found A pliiar trim and put that in, now this little gem is 100% complete

That is a wicked cool ute! Nothing like that over stateside, but ive always thought it would be cool to convert a 4-door into one!

I take it this still counts, started life as a slant 6, getting a 360 today

I'm 17 me and my father both restored this beauty, and she is my daily driver. Just hit 110,000 miles this week!! Best part, I'm graduating high school this year.

Replaced both quarter panels. Ordered new seat covers. Painted bumpers. Painted the ENTIRE rear end doors back in our garage, very ghetto. Many bondo spots and rust patches with POR-15. Got a sound system installed in the trunk.
This year, we have replaced the entire front end suspension, got an alignment done (very horrible, the belts were showing on my inner tires and I still had full tread on the outer!), new tires, painted almost the whole engine bay and ready for the 340!!!

My brother had it for a few years, now I'm the new caretaker. It made a 600 mile trip down from Oregon, and an 800 mile round trip to LA, but it needs a little attention. Used about 10 quarts of oil on the trip...

This all comming out not to be replaced but to check. I rebuilt her nearly 20 years ago she has sat in storage since now she is painted and going back together I want to go over her before she sings. I will do the stainless valves and 340 springs I may even replace all the big and main bolts with ARP. I already have the head stud kit to go on edelbrock 650 with Offy manifold. Holley electric pump. I have new pipes but I like these better if the are gone in places I will repair them. Deck had been shaved 40 head has 40. The motor was 8.4:1 so it should come up nice I have already made 80 thou spacers all those years ago in the machine shop for the common rail to compensate for the shave. Still deciding on head as I have a later blue motor that head should have the better combustion chamber. Only problem I have that motor complete on a dolly acting as a chassis stand for my 55 Chebby.
" hey don't get pissed off it takes a mopar to hold up the rest!"

I have been wanting a classic for 35 years. Just brought this one home Saturday with a slant 6. It has some
issues and needs some work, but it's all mine.

I came across this picture of the Burlesque house in downtown Cleveland. It was known as the Roxy. They used to have old fashioned live comedians, classic old school strippers, etc. It looks like a 66 Valiant was passing by when this picture was taken in the early 70's (not by me)
It's true a lot of a-bodies were ordered as strippers but really...

Figured id throw up a few since these are probably the last good pictures you will see of her while she still has a slant 6 for propulsion. Soon to be 5.7 swapped.

It's all done. Had it over a year and picked it up from the body shop. Been there since December.
