:read2:I received my entire conversion kit today from Shumacher which includes their motor mounts, ceramic headers, and torque strap. I have read and understand all of the directions and have prepared everything except grinding some of the drivers side boss where the header would hit. Now to the point, the first sentence on the Tech Tips recommends using an oil pan from a 66-73 C body #187 or #699 because it has a indentation for the idler arm. Has anyone did this? Has anyone used another pan and dimpled it with a ballpeen hammer? I am asking for different options.

Using the 187 or 699 makes it real simple, they come up on here and ebay all the time. It's not going to be simple to just dimple the pan cuss it's a large area that must be modified IMHO.

how bout a pan from 440 source? they are 7qt center sump and fit good. i got one on my 73 Dart along with their windage tray. it was around 80$$$

Unless it's got this dent (about 1 1/2" deep) you'll have to go to a different style idler arm.

That is the one I have now, are you running a 440 and any idler arm or center link interference?:munky2:

i do have a 440 with the schumacher conversion mounts but im using hooker fenderwell headers, make sure you got a good tranny mount if its worn your pan will be very close to the center link

I have a good polyurethane one from Energy Suspension. Did you use any of the shims, I not sure they come with only the motor mounts. I got them with the whole kit?8)

This is the 440 Source 7 qt deep oil pan that I am using for right now.

thats the one, only reason i say to have a good tranny mount is because it supports the rear height of the motor. im still using the stock mount

Now since you are using fenderwell headers isn't your steering limited from side to side. Can you tell me if you idler arm goes under a part of the oil pan when you turn all the way to the right or left?
