Silverback Carbs

Can a $2500 carburetor be compromised by today's dirty fuels?

What was bad about Predator carb's?

I was under the impression that today's carbs are quite a bit better than they used to be 40 years ago, but this community has tremendous praise for the Thermo-quad.

I don't understand how 'self compensating temp and altitude abilities' is any different than early 20th century carburetors functioned for aircraft in WW1 & WW2.

I was gonna get EFI . Staying with the carb.

If you or anyone around you can tune a carb I think you'll be happy both in performance and monetarily in both the short and long run with this choice.

.

They are, in many ways. The sensitivity of the boosters, the construction, the precision. You can get away with running a bigger carb now. Many of the design flaws have been improved upon. I remember IQ52 writing about how he figures in 10 years we'll all be running 1200cfm carbs.

For the $2900 they want for a race version, I could buy a new race Holley, 200HP NOS kit and go on vacation

I bet my car would go faster
