simple cam question ,,,I hope

I have a 1968 383,,,I got a double chain timing set for christmas for a 3 bolt cam but he was told when he bought it that it might need a single bolt set. As far as I know this engine is stock,, is there a standard cam that these engines use.

Most all stock engines use a single bolt cam gear and you dont need or use the 3 bolt gear until the cam is a Mechanical or roller type and it is due to the spring pressure that the 3 bolt gear is needed.

FYI - The only stock BB to use 3 bolt cams were Hemis and 6bbls motors.
