Six pack scoop install

I got the underside of the hood sanded(fingers wore to the bone) and primed. I started with 80 grit and went to 180 then used a red Scotch brite to get any sand scratches that might show through. I touched up the bare metal spots with etch primer and then 2K primer. Hopefully gonna be able to get the top side filled and primed by monday. I have a couple of dings to try and tap out and feather edge some rock chip spots.

When I cut out my hood for the scoop I cut about an inch in from the triangular bracing where your hole is and my air cleaner is up into the scoop... The air cleaner sits a little off center of the hood.. Just wondering why you didn't do the same? You said you didn't want to cut the supports of the hood and you wouldn't if you did it that way.. Which is the way the factory cut the hoods...Just wondering (not dising you)...Bill;)

Well my air cleaner doesnt go up in the hood, and I wanted my hole to be cut out of the center of the hood

I got my hood primed this morning. I still have to block sand it and then shoot the flat black on it.
I bought some Evapo Rust to clean my bolts and hood latch and I was getting ready to etch prime my hood latch and my spring broke on the latch. So luckily I had bought some hood pins, so I had to reinstall my hood and drill for my hood pins. By the way Evapo Rust is hands down AWESOME!

Ok I guide coated the hood and wet sanded with 220 then went over it again with 320.
I scuffed up the underside lastnight with a red Scotchbrite and cleaned it off and sprayed the flat black.

Im in the process of putting seam sealer between the scoop and hood. Im waiti g patiently for it to dry so I can sand it.

So after about 3 hours the seam sealer still hadnt dried like it was supposed to and when I was trying to feather edge it the seam sealer started rolling off, well it was a good idea while it lasted.

So now I dug almost all of the seam sealer out and just used fiberglass filler to smooth it out. Been doing the smoothing of the scoop for about 4 hours and because Im a perfectionist I will be probably messing with it most of the night and most likely gonna spray it late tonight

Well here is the finished product, after "molding" the scoop to the hood with seam sealer and it didnt work like I wanted it to. I dug almost all of it out and used fiberglass filler to mold it. Its not perfect but its done, I couldnt feel some of the sand scratches and thats my biggest mess up. In this pic it hadnt flashed yet

Looks nice! How do you not get dirt in the paint? My buddy paints inside with a watered down floor and still manages to get dust in the paint.
