SKMFX Engines gets 519 hp stock stroke 360

Stroker pounds the crap out of the mains, post #30.
Huh?
I can name a couple of 'production' strokers that seem to last just fine. By that I mean they have considerably longer strokes than other engines of comparable capacity. Olds 455 has a 4.25" stroke, 1/2" longer than a 440. 455 Pontiac is right behind it with a 4.21" stroke. Neither engine known for pounding out mains.
.
Isn't the olds engine known for not having very much meat in the webbing of the block. An this causes the main caps and the block itself to shift around. So therefore they run looser clearances on the mains to keep the crank from hitting the bearing when the block shifts?

Buick/Olds/Pontiac all known for thin webbing/CAST connecting rods/Cast cranks and usually a lot of low end torque at the expense of RPM capability. Pontiac caps are doweled to prohibit movement. Working on a 400 Poncho right now. J.Rob

When Pontiac developed the 1973/74 455 SD engines, factory testing with cams, headers etc produced 574 ft lbs tq @ 3600, 530 hp @ 5800 rpm.
The blocks had provision for dry sump oiling for those who wanted to race them.
