Getting ready to paint and assemble the short block, nice and clean!

Those pistons with that ring pack are amazing. Make sure you don't have a traditional .005" clearance or it will sound a little dieselly. Run them at their recommended clearance which is .003" on a 4032 piston. J.Rob

Whats the coating on top of the Mahle pistons ? not trying to high jack the thread.

Super nice build , really like Mahle pistons light as can be and make no noise , used them on my 340's , as for the rest of your build , i'm using the molnar crank and rods as well , good stuff should make plenty of power .
Good luck , waiting for the video of you starting it up

Get ready to break out the hammer and grinder. Getting the milodon parts to fit is a giant p i t a.

Little more compression that i am going to have and I am using a hydraulic cam.. I hope i get in the same ballpark as you those are fantastic numbers!

Obligatory orange block, cam bearings & main bearings in. Main studs and crank are in, pistons and rods installed, cam and roller timing chain installed and degreed in..

great numbers i have a similar build but used 23cc dished pistons best i got was 510 hp 560 tq , ut that is about to change hope to get numbers close to yours when the 13cc pistons go in . thanks for posting the numbers , give me a target to aim for .

Milodon windage tray took a little massaging at the slotted areas so the studs would fit properly.
Took a little off the studs so they would clear the oil pan.
Checking valves and seats for proper sealing on the Trickflow 190’s
Oil pump and main cap getting a little love so the passage mates up well.

Wow. Excellent build! Where are you getting the molner crank and rods?

torn between those and scat.

Direct from Molnar, balanced rotating assembly.

I noticed that you used a chain tensioner...Aren't those tensioners intended for the non roller timing chains? Seems like a roller timing chain. would eat into the nylon pads?

It does but then the wear stops once the rollers are making full contact. That being said I use the tensioners in tandem with the stock link belt style chain anymore--never have I seen a failure yet. As long as the chain isn't sloppy I'm starting to think double roller chains are somewhat over rated. J.Rob

Lil more progress.... removed the finish from the oil pan, it's all painted up afterwards. Oil slinger installed. front cover and harmonic balancer installed.

Roller tappets, pushrods and rockers installed. Little port matching on the manifold

Pretty sure we are going to get it on the test stand in the next few days.

Then I gotta save a few bucks to get it to the dyno..

Engine is fully assembled and ready to run on the test stand...

Here I was hoping for a Jeep build
Only thing better than a 4.0 would be a 4.25
what's the delta in cost?

Me too. I thought it was gonna be somethin actually interestin and it'a another small block.....no offense to the OP.

WHAT INTAKE YOU running ? if it's an air gap forget it runs out of steam at 5600 - 5800 . i got rid of my ported gasket matched air gap for a victor will have it on the dyno soon to see if it makes good power to at least 6500 . air gap made great torque 560 at 4600 but hp dropped after 5600 rpm
