Hi guys i have a very nice 1986 s6 904 and a v8 904 with a 2000/ 2 200 stall, do all internal parts of the s6 904 fits the v8 904 ? Its to bolt on a 350 hp 360 engine....read that the s6 904 as a better 1st gear ration than the v8 one....thanks guys kinda new to 904s , can just buy a 727 but i have these 2 laying around.

Can't help on your question but 904 will handle that all day long. 727 is great but heavier. I assume its going in a A-body ?

We run 600HP plus all year long in our 904's
Even more in our Big block 500 with adapter!
Only a few late 904's had the 2.75 low.
Mainly Cop Cars and Taxi Cars
Pro Trans in Texas makes a conversion to
use them in 727s and I do. They also make
Straight cut gear sets in almost any ratio if
you Wallet is thick.
Internal parts are pretty much interchangeable on
904s.

I don't know for sure, as Most 904's I have worked on, are the earlier ones. However, I am under the impression that all late 904's have the wide ratio, low 1st gear and are lock ups. There is a 904T which is basically a truck 904, but I don't know what the difference is. Check the numbers on the pan rail of both transmissions, then you should be able to determine what parts interchange.
PS: There are different designations of the small TF. 904, 998, 999, and 904T. Some internal parts will swap and some will not.
Example 904 has a single wrap rear band. 999 has a double wrap rear band. the case is different.
Again, I,m not sure on late models.
